Second-Time-Around Mom Life: Messy and Beautiful

Shhhhhhh!
It’s that time of morning, when everyone is gone but me. It’s still. It’s quiet. It’s golden!
Honestly, it’s only 7:45 am and my pillow beckons as I make up my bed. The 6 am alarm was unwelcome today. I think crashing back in sounds lovely.
Then I remember — I scheduled an 8:15 chiropractor appointment. Crud! I’ll be glad tomorrow, when I’m sitting on the plane. Can I nap in Tucson? I’ll nap in Tucson. (Does anyone believe this? Cuz I don’t. But let’s keep the fantasy alive!)
I find my yoga pants, stretch a little, wash my face. Look in the mirror and wonder if I can leave my scissors alone until my next hair appointment. Finally, I chastise my lack of makeup as I hurry to the car.
Was it quiet for 5 minutes? It was. I distinctly remember quiet. I am grateful.
Mom life, second time around — beautiful, messy, and lovely. And I’m certain I’d not have it any other way.
